Since the introduction of the Aspartame to the content of multitudes of diet foods in 1981, the controversy resulting from the shocking number of cases reported linking the ingestion of foods containing this artificial sweetener has been staggering. Medical documentation and many independent studies have noted the correlation of extensive cases of rehabilitative conditions to aspartame, which is the generic name for many sweetening products commercially known to the public under the different brand names.

The list of medical conditions blamed on the use of aspartame is vast, and while many of the ailments are difficult to trace in origin, the medical community as a whole is strongly advising against consuming products containing this chemical, as it appears to have limitless adverse effects.

Diminished sensory conditions including vision impairments often presenting as blurring, bright flashes, tunnel vision, and blindness, as well as auditory problems such as ringing in the ear and hearing loss. Neurologic disorders documented include headaches, migraines, memory loss, numbing of the limbs, slurred speech and severe hyperactivity. Many aggravations of physiological and metabolic disorders have also been linked to use of aspartame including severe depressions, aggression, anxiety disorder, insomnia, phobias, menstrual changes, hypoglycemia and severe symptoms of Premenstrual Syndrome.
More alarming are the reports suggesting that many cases of misdiagnosis of disease are actually an acute reaction to aspartame toxicity in the blood, resulting in Symptoms that appear to be Epstein-Barr Syndrome, Lyme, Grave’s, and Alzheimer’s diseases, as well as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, lupus, and attention deficit disorder. Clinical studies conclude that, in many cases of this diagnosis, elimination of both MSG and aspartame from the diet dramatically reduces the symptoms, or results in complete reversal of the disease.

As the medical reports continue to accumulate, showing that aspartame consumption is detrimental to the health of those using it in any quantity, additional unbiased research studies are being conducted to appeal to government agencies to reclassify the use of aspartame as a toxin, and ban it from use worldwide.
